A Bench Built for Power Design

Applying a power supply, a converter and an EMI filter correctly is as important as choosing the right part, and because the performance depends on the derating, the thermal path and the input filtering, the integration decides whether the equipment runs cool and compliantly. To support customers more effectively, BeiLuo has opened an FAE verification bench dedicated to COSEL power products. The bench lets our engineers measure the efficiency, the thermal derating and the conducted emissions before a customer commits to a design, turning advice into evidence.

The bench complements the stock program announced in July. Where the stocking program answers the question of whether a part is available, the new bench answers the question of whether the part will perform in a specific application. Together they let BeiLuo support a design from selection through validation, rather than only at the point of sale.

What We Measure

The bench is equipped with precision power meters, programmable electronic loads, a thermal chamber, a high-bandwidth oscilloscope and a LISN for conducted emissions. Engineers measure the efficiency of a supply across the load, the case and the ambient temperature at the worst case, the ripple and the transient on each rail, the leakage current of a filter and the conducted emissions with a filter in place. For a DC-DC converter the bench confirms the isolation, the efficiency and the conduct-ed emissions at the input.

Efficiency and Derating

Power meters on both sides of a supply give the efficiency and the loss, and a thermal chamber plus thermocouples give the case and the ambient temperature at the worst case. The bench reads the derating curve against the measured temperature, so it can confirm whether a supply in a warm enclosure still delivers the power the design needs, which is the practical question in a compact cabinet.

Conducted Emissions and Leakage

A LISN measures the conducted emissions from the input with the real load and a candidate filter, so the bench can confirm whether the equipment meets the limit and how much margin the filter provides. A precision meter measures the leakage current of the filter at the rated voltage, so a medical or a sensitive design can confirm the leakage against the safety limit before the equipment is built.

From Selection to Validation

When a customer asks which part suits their design, our FAE team can now validate the recommendation on the bench. We measure the efficiency and the derating of a supply, the ripple of a converter, or the emissions and the leakage of a filter, compare the result with the datasheet expectation and confirm the margin. The result is a design path backed by measured data, which reduces the risk of a late-stage surprise and shortens the path to a reliable design.

Thermal and EMC Validation

The bench can bring up a customer's board and confirm the derating, the ripple, the leakage and the conducted emissions in one session, so the power and the EMC design are checked together rather than separately. That turns a thermal or an EMC question into a measured answer and supports a product that passes the standard on the first attempt.

Supporting a Design End to End

The bench is a support tool, not a test house, and it is strongest when used early. A typical engagement starts with a selection question, moves to a bench check of the chosen parts under the customer's conditions, and ends with a validated recommendation for the supply, the converter and the filter. Because BeiLuo holds the parts in regional stock, the validated part can then move quickly to a sample and a production order.

How to Use the Bench

Customers can request a bench evaluation by sending their rails, the input and the environment, and their EMC and leakage targets to the BeiLuo team. Our engineers will set up the test, measure the key parameters and share the results with a design recommendation. Because the bench and the stock program work together, a customer can validate a part on the bench and then hold production stock within the same week. The bench is one more reason to treat BeiLuo as a technical partner for COSEL products rather than a simple parts supplier.
